This week, join me for a quick interview with Real Gone, a Boston, MA based band playing vintage rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, and rhythm and blues. This interview was conducted following Real Gone's live session on On the Town with Mikey Dee.

Trae Sheehan (Acoustic Set) – Mar. 13, 2024

This week, I am joined by local-indie-folk-rock-troubadour, Trae Sheehan. If you like acoustic guitar, harmonica, and learning about the fun backstories behind your favorite artists' songs then look no further: this is the podcast episode for you!

Lessa and the Mores – Mar. 06, 2024

Here is a band to keep an eye on: Lessa and the Mores are an up-and-coming Boston based quintet playing indie-pop infused rock music. Check out this interview and find out a bit more about their approach to music, how they all met, and how they've been fitting into the Boston music scene.

Coco Elise (AU) – Feb. 28, 2024

Listen to my interview with Josh Ellis, the frontman of Coco Elise (AU). Coco Elise is a collosal dreamy indie / psychedelic rock band which is both laconic and loquacious (and many other great SAT words, as discussed within). Hailing from Perth, Australia, the farthest city in the entire world from our radio station here in Boston, Coco Elise occupies 30% of the Southern Hemisphere and they have their sights set on the rest of the world!

[REDACTED] Allston Basement Organizer – Jan. 31, 2024

Published on February 13, 2024

This week, join Mellow Max for an inside look at one of the personalities keeping the Boston DIY music and arts scene ticking as he chats with the organizer behind an iconic Allston basement venue. What does it take to keep a venue running? Why do they do it? And how do they balance good music and good times while staying underground? A recent article about the scene may have put a damper on things... but DIY music and art is a Boston staple and it's here to stay.

Bermuda Search Party – Jan. 24, 2024

Published on January 25, 2024

This week on Highly Recommended, Claire and Leo from Bermuda Search Party (FKA The Q-Tip Bandits) joined me in the studio for their first interview as Bermuda Search Party to discuss their recent name change, new releases, life, music, inspiration, and beyond!

These two talented songwriters are a mainstay of the Boston music scene -- when they're not playing their own gigs, they can be found rocking out in the audience supporting other local musicians. And on top of all that, they're extremely intelligent, well-spoken people. Come sit in the room with me for this conversation with Claire and Leo.

Little Fuss – Jan. 17, 2024

Published on January 19, 2024

This week, I welcomed Little Fuss back to the WMFO studio for an interview on Highly Recommended. Little Fuss is a Boston based art pop / indie rock / generally genre defying group comprised of Olive Martinez, Cody Von Lehmden, Delia Martin, and Vitor Oliveira. With anecdotes as fun as their music, it was truly a pleasure to make this episode.

Chloe Crystal Taylor – Jan. 17, 2024

Published on January 19, 2024

Keeping me going through my five hour radio marathon on January 17, 2024 (7pm - midnight!), was local singer-songwriter Chloe Crystal Taylor. Carrying on the On the Town with Mikey Dee tradition for live, local music, Chloe played an acoustic set from Studio A. She was perfectly comfortable singing and chatting with me live on the WMFO airwaves and I never would have guessed it was her first radio appearance if she hadn't told me! And it was my first time acting as a DJ and a live sound engineer simultaneously! Thank you Chloe for the very special live performance.

SARIKA – Jan. 10, 2024

Published on January 16, 2024

Listen to the live radio interview with Boston-based folk/pop singer SARIKA, first aired on 91.5FM WMFO January 10, 2024.

I had the privilege of seeing SARIKA perform on Jan 5, 2024 at the Rockwood Boston near Fenway Park. Rockwood is a fairly new venue and it is on the small-ish side which makes it the perfect spot to catch up-and-coming local acts before they hit it big! I believe that's the course SARIKA is on. She may be new to the music scene, but she has the stage presence of a seasoned veteran: confident and in control of the crowd, yet warm and relatable. Her music is a mix of upbeat optimism and poppy refrains with a grounding dose of melancholy. And she is not afraid to engage with her fans, even when it comes to short-notice cover requests (as she discussed in the interview).

Give her music a listen, check out this interview, and make sure to buy a ticket for her next gig!

Vero Strange – Dec. 6, 2023

Published on January 16, 2024

It was my pleasure to welcome WMFO alum Dan Fisher back onto the airwaves to talk about his new project, Vero Strange, and their new single That's Just Speed. Beyond the interview, Dan spoiled us with several unreleased demos for upcoming tracks. Keep your eyes open for them in the coming months!

Amyl and the Sniffers – Oct. 8, 2018

Published on January 15, 2024

Amyl and the Sniffers had just finished their gig at the Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge, MA when I approached them, "Hey, I have a radio show in a couple of hours... Want to come on for an interview?" Lead singer Amy Taylor replied, "Go ask our tour manager, Spike." I did and when Spike asked if the band was keen, I assured him, "Oh yeah, they're keen!"

With Spike's number in my phone, I left the venue feeling star-struck, excited, and just a little jumbled by the mosh pit. About ten minutes later, it hit me that I was going to be interviewing Amyl and the Sniffers in less than two hours!

The day before, I was just another Junior at Tufts University... but tonight I was preparing for a live radio interview (my first ever) with legendary Australian punk group, Amyl and the Sniffers!
